Welcome to the new 110th Congress. Many will note the history of America's first female Speaker. We wish Nancy Pelosi well. As a staffer and a Member, I have known and worked with her for over 20 years. We have a lot of work ahead of us.

If the new Congress has a mission, it should be reform. After everyone is sworn in, we will be taking up the issue of ethics. If the Congress lives up to its full potential, we should consider reforms to kill the pension of Members of Congress convicted of a felony.  Both Speakers Pelosi and Hastert voted for this.

With the possibility that Members of Congress may soon be indicted, it's high time we move this needed measure into law.
