TEXAS MAN SENTENCED IN CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE CASE

December 8, 2005

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

David E. Nahmias, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, and Gregory Jones, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, announce that BRADLEY DUANE HOSCHOUER, 36, of Tyler, Texas, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Jack T. Camp, on federal charges of traveling across state lines with intent to engage in prohibited sexual conduct with a minor. According to Nahmias and the documents and information presented in court:

HOSCHOUER was sentenced to 260 months in federal prison to be followed by 5 years of supervised release, and required to receive a psycho-sexual evaluation. HOSCHOUER was convicted by a jury after trial on March 30, 2004.

According to the evidence presented at trial and during the sentencing hearing today, on September 9, 2003, HOSCHOUER was arrested for shoplifting at a Walmart in Bremen, Georgia. At the time of the arrest the victim of the offense, HOSCHOUER’s 14-year-old daughter and her 6-month-old son were discovered in HOSCHOUER’s van. HOSCHOUER was booked into the Haralson County Jail and the victim and her son were placed in protective custody. The victim then told authorities and later testified at trial that her father began having non-consensual sexual intercourse with her when she was 13. According to the victim, the sexual encounters began when she was living with her great-grandmother and HOSCHOUER came to visit her in Arizona. The victim did not report that her father raped her because she was afraid to do so. A few weeks later, the victim voluntarily went to live with HOSCHOUER in Texas where HOSCHOUER had regular sexual contact with her. In August 2002, the victim discovered that she was pregnant. Her son was born in March 2003. DNA testing done after HOSCHOUER’s arrest confirmed that HOSCHOUER is the biological father of the victim’s son. According to the victim, both before and after her son was born, HOSCHOUER regularly engaged in sexual intercourse with her. At the time HOSCHOUER was arrested, he, the victim, and the son were driving from Texas to North Carolina where HOSCHOUER was going to look for work.

United States Attorney David E. Nahmias said, “This is a horrific case of child sexual abuse. We cannot eliminate the harm done to this victim, but we are satisfied that this defendant will be imprisoned for many years as a result of this prosecution.”

This case was investigated by Special Agents of the FBI and its Safe Child Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney William L. McKinnon, Jr., prosecuted the case.
