Proving Violations of 18 U.S.C. § 553

The term "stolen" in 18 U.S.C. § 553 is to be construed broadly to cover all felonious takings regardless of whether they were in the nature of larceny, embezzlement, or false pretenses. See United States v. Turley, 352 U.S. 407 (1957). See also this Manual at 1302 and 1317.
