The Federal electronic surveillance statutes (commonly
referred to
collectively as "Title III") were originally enacted as Title III
of the Omnibus
Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, Pub.L. 90-351, 82 Stat.
197 (June 19,
1968)("Title III"), and they have been substantially amended and
updated as part
of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986, Pub.L.
99-508, 100 Stat.
1848 (October 21, 1986)("ECPA"), the Communications Assistance for
Law
Enforcement Act, Pub.L. 103-414, 108 Stat. 4279 (October 24,
1994)("CALEA"), and
the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996, Pub.L.
104-132, 110
Stat. 1214 (April 24, 1996)("Antiterrorism Act"). These statutes
are codified,
inter alia, at 18 U.S.C. § 2510, et seq.
