What to Do if You are Exposed to Pesticides
If you are exposed to a pesticide and begin experiencing adverse health effects, you should immediately stop contact with the pesticide. If the pesticide got on your skin or clothes, you should wash residue from the skin and change clothes.
 
If you are experiencing adverse health effects, see your doctor or go to an urgent care facility. You can also call the Oregon Poison Center for help at 1-800-222-1222. Have the label (or at least the full name) of the product to help in diagnosis and treatment.

Pesticides: Internet Resources for Clinicians and Public Health Professionals
Pesticides: Internet Resources for Clinicians and Public Health Professionals is a 40-minute DVD produced in collaboration with Dr. Daniel Sudakin, MD, MPH of Oregon State University and the National Pesticide Information Center, the Oregon Pesticide Poisoning Prevention Program.
 
The DVD explains how to use Web-based tools for evaluating and managing suspected pesticide poisoning cases, including:
 
  1. Hazard assessment (identifying the chemical and its properties)
  2. Exposure assessment (relevant pathways, opportunities for contact, and special risks of agricultural workers)
  3. Clinical assessment (exposure history, toxicology, and biomarkers interpretation)
  4. Reporting and Prevention (data and case profiles)
  5. Dr. Sudakin also presents a pesticide poisoning case study and reviews the steps for evaluating the patient and using available information.

Recognition and Management of Pesticide Poisonings
EPA's Recognition and Management of Pesticide Poisonings is the handbook for pesticide poisonings. Now available it's it fifth edition, the book contains information about nearly 1,500 pesticide products. The text discusses the toxicology, sign and symptoms of pesticide products by their use and product class. This publication is available both in English and Spanish.
