American Medical Association
The "Road Maps for Clinical Practice" series includes an obesity primer for adults, "Case Studies in Disease Prevention and Health Promotion: Assessment and Management of Adult Obesity." The primer consists of ten booklets that offer practical recommendations for addressing adult obesity in the primary care setting.

A nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting education, research, and community action to improve the quality of life for people with obesity.


Center for Weight and Health
This site contains a wealth of information targeting all ages and ranging from programs and materials, surveys and data, reference lists, and funding resources. Examples of resources include the tool kit, "Children and Weight: What Communities Can Do" and "Pediatric Overweight: A Review of the Literature."


Food and Drug Administration
View highlights of the Food and Drug Administration's strategies to address obesity, including the "FDA Obesity Working Group" report. "Calories Count" is the message of the obesity campaign.


Maternal and Child Health Library Knowledge Paths

Office of the Surgeon General
The Surgeon General's "Call to Action to Prevent and Decrease Overweight and Obesity" is available as well as many fact sheets on the topic.
