SNPLMA Round 6

Background Information

The USDA Forest Service, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit accepted project proposal nominations for Round 6 Tahoe expenditures from September 7, 2004 through October 4, 2004. These project proposal nominations were authorized by the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act of 1998 (SNPLMA, Public Law 105-263) as amended in 2003.

Lake Tahoe projects considered for funding had to meet the following minimum criteria:

  1. Be the responsibility of the federal government in the Environmental Improvement Program (EIP); and
  2. Have a willing and ready federal sponsor.

Selection Process

All nominations received went though a selection process described in the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act Implementation Agreement, dated June 2004.  Please select this link to view the 1.4 M PDF document: Implementation Agreement.

The lists provided below were developed by the Tahoe Working Group.  They were  submitted to the Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee (LTFAC) and were given initial approval on May 18, 2005.

A public comment period for the listed projects was open from Tuesday, May 24, 2005 through Friday June 24, 2005.

The draft lists were approved by Gale Norton, Secretary for the Department of Interior.  Follow this link to see her Decision Document (35 KB PDF).  In her Decision Document she refers to "attached tables."  This link will take you to the Bureau of Land Management SNPLMA web site where you can view the entire list of approved projects.
