NIH and RML Issue Revised Emergency Response Plan for Integrated Research Facility
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has responded to public comments on its Emergency Response Plan for the Integrated Research Facility (IRF) at Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML) in Hamilton, MT. The plan was released on April 21, 2006, in accordance with a September 2004 federal court settlement.
In the settlement, NIH/RML agreed to make the plan available for public comment and respond to the comments. The NIH made the plan available to the public for review from April 21 through June 30, 2006; the updated version contains changes incorporated from the four parties that provided comments.
The IRF is a new building scheduled to open in 2007; it will contain offices, meeting rooms, mechanical equipment and laboratories at biosafety levels 2, 3 and 4.
The updated plan and responses to the public comments are also available for viewing at the RML Visitor’s Center at the corner of Grove and Fourth streets, and copies are being given to the four parties that commented as well as to members of the RML Community Liaison Group.
