The Deputy Chief Financial Officer in conjunction with the Office of Financial Management formulates and prescribes Department-wide financial management, accounting, budgetary, fiscal policies, procedures, and controls, as well as, provides assistance to Departmental components in its implementation.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Provides policy guidance and oversight of Department financial management personnel, activities, and operations.
• Directs and implements projects for the development and maintenance of the Departmental financial systems.
• Ensures Department compliance with all laws, regulations, standards and guidelines regarding financial, accounting, and fiscal management, including the Chief Financial Officers Act, the Government Management Reform Act, the Federal Managers Budget, the Anti-Deficiency Act, and the Government Performance and Results Act, in conjunction with the Office of Budget and the Office of the General Counsel.
• Formulates, executes and provides guidance on the budget for the Office of the Secretary.
