Hurricane Gustav: Videos and Photos

Debris line video

EPA and LDEQ use helicopters to fly over coastal areas to locate orphan chemical containers stranded by Hurricane Gustav. After reconnaissance flights are completed, the geographic information system (GIS) team will map container locations for field teams. These teams will respond and remove any containers holding chemicals. In some cases, empty containers in sensitive ecosystems are left in place to prevent additional damage.

This video was taken by EPA and LDEQ. It shows hundreds of orphan chemical containers left along the storm surge following Hurricane Gustav.
