Description

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeing an increase in websites soliciting for charitable donations to aid hurricane survivors. This page provides consumer advice on how to spot scams related to hurricane donations and recovery efforts. Recommendations include go directly to recognized charities and aid organizations' websites instead of following a link to another site; try to verify the legitimacy of any nonprofit organization; and be cautious of any e-mails claiming to show pictures of the disaster in attached files, as these files may contain viruses.
