Global Collaborations
Inputs: Emerging Issues
Topics that are recognized as emerging issues by NIOSH also affect workers globally. Strong global collaborations will enable efficient sharing of useful information and successful preventive actions. Some of these issues include:
Global Situation Analysis
The World Health Organization (WHO) Global Network of Collaborating Centers has included in its 2006-2010 Global Work Plan an Activity Area dedicated to recognizing and acting upon global emerging issues. This Activity Area is entitled "Global Situation Analysis."
Global situation analysis provides a picture of how ongoing globalization and changing employment patterns are influencing occupational safety and health. International partners have identified the need to continually scan the horizon for emerging issues for which actions could be taken to prevent worker illness and injury. Global situation analysis is one of six priority areas in which international partners are working together in the WHO Global Network Work Plan 2006 – 2010. This approach should help to identify future trends that will shape the world of work over the next decade. Additional partners are welcome.
More information, and the projects included in this Activity Area, can be found in the 2006-2010 Global Work Plan on the Web page for the WHO Global Network of Collaborating Centers in Occupational Health.
