GOV. RITTER RESUMES STATEWIDE OUTREACH TOUR ON FRIDAY WITH VISIT TO NORTHEAST COLORADO

Gov. Bill Ritter resumes his statewide outreach tour on Friday with a visit to northeast Colorado, making stops at Northeastern Junior College and the state prison in Sterling. He also will be meeting with city, county and other municipal leaders and the public for a roundtable discussion of local issues.

The Governor launched the summer and fall outreach tour last month with health-care and renewable-energy events along the Front Range. Following Friday's visit to Logan County, the outreach tour will take the Governor to Pueblo on Aug. 4.

"Great things are happening all across Colorado," Gov. Ritter said. "I want to hear from our citizens about their successes, and I want to let people know what their state government is doing to intersect with their struggles. Together, we can keep Colorado moving forward."

Friday's schedule includes the following events:

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.:

Gov. Ritter will be the featured guest during an open forum with state employees as part of the Statewide Liaison Council for Classified Employees in Higher Education conference.

Location: Northeastern Junior College, Hays Student Center, second-floor ballroom, 100 College Ave., Sterling.

1 p.m. to 2 p.m.:

Gov. Ritter will tour the Sterling Correctional Facility and meet with corrections officers. Opened in 1998, the facility is one of the state's largest prisons with 2,545 beds and about 730 full-time employees.

Location: Sterling Correctional Facility, 12101 Highway 61, Sterling.

MEDIA: If you plan to attend the tour, you must pre-register today. Please contact Evan Dreyer at evan.dreyer@state.co.us or 303.866.6324 and provide your name, date of birth and driver's license number.

2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.:

Gov. Ritter will meet with Logan County Commissioners, Sterling City Council members, other leaders and the public during an open community forum to discuss issues of local importance.

Location: Logan County Courthouse, 315 Main St., Sterling.
