Brazzaville, 13 October 2008 -- The WHO Regional Director for Africa, Dr Luis G. Sambo, has said in Luanda that the human resource crisis in the health sector is a gigantic challenge. He therefore urged policy makers and all stakeholders to devote special attention to addressing the problem.
Dr Sambo noted that “the challenges are enormous, requiring strong partnerships between various sectors, united action to improve health systems performance and increased promotion of the socioeconomic status of women”. read more |
WHO Regional Director for Africa Receives Award in Luanda from the Order of Angolan Doctors |
Brazzaville, 11 October 2008 -- The WHO Regional Director for Africa, Dr Luis Gomes Sambo, received an award in Luanda on Friday from the Order of Angolan Doctors for his work for the health and the well-being of the people of the African Continent.
Prior to receiving the award from the Order of Angolan Medical Doctors, Dr Sambo delivered an address on health-related Millennium Development Goals: plans and the way forward in Africa, with emphasis on maternal and child health, tuberculosis, malaria and HIV/AIDS. read more
