Elementary Science FairSponsored By: The Office of Educational Programs (OEP)Over 100 Suffolk County schools take part every year in BNL's Elementary School Science Fair. Some 470 projects, created by over 500 Suffolk County children ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade, compete. The student projects include charts, experiments, demos, diagrams, and collections with a scientific objective. BNL scientists and elementary school teachers judge the contest. Each student receives a ribbon for participating in the fair. The winner -- one for each grade level -- is awarded a medal and honorable mention medals are given out. Banners, which can be displayed alongside schools' sports banners, are awarded to the schools of the first-place winners. Here is a short video describing the Science Fair. 2009 Contest Key Dates
