The Panther Fire on the Lower Trinity Ranger District grew from 140 acres to 245 acres as of 8:00 am Sunday morning according to District Ranger Ann Garland. "The fire is burning on the west slope of Underwood Mountain towards the South Fork of the Trinity River. Fire fighting is difficult since the west side is on a 90% slope. It is burning in heavy timber and brush with areas of dead and down trees," said Garland. "We received additional crews and equipment and are working on the south portion of the fire."

Resources include seven (7) 20-person crews, four (4) engines, six (6) dozers, five (5) water tenders and two National Guard helicopters. Monday’s weather is predicted to be in the mid-80's.

A base camp is being set up in Willow Creek to facilitate the movement of crews and equipment.

The Somes Fire in the Orleans Complex is at 1800 acres and remains a threat to the Pearch Creek water system, a communications system and some homes and outbuildings. The fire information number is (530) 627-3145. Updates for the Orleans Complex will be posted on http://www.inciweb.org.
