Eureka, August 3, 2005

A temporary use restriction will be placed on Forest Road 15N39 in the Smith River National Recreation Area during the week of August 8, 2005. This restriction is needed for public safety during road surface replacement operations. During operations there will be heavy truck traffic as well as road-grader, roller and water truck activity.

District Ranger Mary Kay Vandiver asks the public to avoid using this road during this time period. Forest Service Road 15N39 accesses the South Fork/Kelsey Trailhead and therefore this trail will not be accessible during this time period. It is anticipated that road work should be completed by Friday, August 12. For more information, contact Monte Saturn at 707-457-3131, extension 116.
