Measurement of productivity growth in U.S. manufacturing

Productivity measurement cannot be restricted to capital and labor factors-intermediate inputs constitute too large a part of the cost structure; revised and extended data show upward trend in multifactor productivity growth. This article discusses the measurement of multifactor productivity for manufacturing and analyzes growth trends within the sector.
