GOV. RITTER MARKS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT MONTH WITH JOBS CABINET MEETING & JOB FAIR TOUR

Gov. Bill Ritter will mark Workforce Development Month on Thursday by convening a meeting of his Jobs Cabinet and visiting with businesses and job-seekers at the E3 Job Fair.

The Jobs Cabinet, co-chaired by attorney Jim Lyons, Qwest Executive Vice President Teresa Taylor and Trinidad State Junior College President Ruth Ann Woods, will present findings from its summer outreach tour and discuss a strategy for crafting a statewide action plan.

"One of the most important things we are doing to strengthen Colorado's economy is focusing on workforce development," Gov. Ritter said. "Creating 21st century employment opportunities for Colorado citizens and businesses is Job 1 for the Jobs Cabinet."

The Jobs Cabinet meeting is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the Carriage House at the Governor's Residence, 8th and Logan (please enter through the gate on Logan).

Following his 10 to 11 a.m. appearance at the Jobs Cabinet meeting, Gov. Ritter will meet with businesses and job-seekers at the E3 Job Fair at the Colorado Convention Center from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Businesses with jobs in the energy, telecommunications, hospitality, tourism, government, sales and construction will be taking part in the fair, which is being sponsored by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

"This is a great opportunity for job-seekers to learn about the needs of several different sectors all in one place," said Don Mares, executive director of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

Job counselors from Workforce Centers will be on hand to talk about the free services they can provide, answer questions and provide résumé critiquing. Representatives from higher education will also be at the E3 Job Fair to help individuals set a course of action for their future.

E3 stands for "Economy, Education and Economic Development." For more  information, visit www.coworkforce.com/e3.
