Low-Cost Legal Services Outside OPD

OPD does not provide attorneys for all legal problems and not everyone is eligible for public defense services. If you haven't much money but don't qualify for a public defender, or you have a legal problem OPD cannot help with, there are other options for you.

A new resource for information on Civil (Non-Criminal) Legal Aid in King County is now available by calling 211, visiting the Crisis Center web site, or downloading a guide. Most services are provided by non-profit organizations, and many serve only low-income people. Also the King County Bar Association sponsors free Neighborhood Legal Clinics where volunteer attorneys provide up to 30 minutes of free legal advice and consultation to King County residents at a variety of locations around the county.

OPD is a partner with local and regional courts, municipalities, and criminal justice agencies throughout the county. Together we work to ensure quality legal services are available to low-income residents and services for justice-involved individuals are coordinated as much as is possible.
