Career Development:
Helping You Achieve More in Your Career and Life

You may need career development help if you:
  • Dread getting up every morning to go to work
  • Are tired of working hard, and not getting recognized for your efforts
  • Want to move ahead and make more money, but don't know what to do...

You're not alone!

A report published by Harris Interactive, Inc. in May, 2005, found that 41% of U.S. workers were dissatisfied with their jobs, and 42% were dealing with feelings of burn-out.

You know there's a problem, but...you're not really sure what to do. Maybe you jump from job to job trying to find the best "fit", or maybe you just suffer in the same job for years because you're not really sure what you want to do.

If this sounds like you, a personal career development plan may be just the answer. Think about it, you plan for just about every event in your life - weddings, birthdays, holidays, but how much time do you really devote to your career development?

Sure, maybe you've taken some courses, even have a degree, but maybe you just don't know what you really want to do.

My Experience

I know exactly how you feel, because I've been in your shoes. When I graduated from college, I had high expectations of landing a great, high-paying corporate job. I didn't really know what I wanted to do, I just knew that if a company would give me a chance, I would prove myself and work my way up. I had no clear vision of what I really wanted to do or where I wanted to be in five years. I had not created a career development plan.

After finally accepting a position that paid less than my waitressing job at the time, I soon realized that my college education had sorely prepared me for the corporate world. After being initiated into "cube life," I had to learn everything the hard way. The politics and bureaucracy of a large organization were completely unknown to me until I started working in one. I dreaded getting up every morning to go to a job I really didn't like. I became disappointed, and knew there had to be a better way.

After 15 years of working in the business world in several industries (government, legal, restaurant, telecommunications, wholesale importing and distribution, non-profit), I learned what it takes to succeed and advance. Many mentors along the way helped me along my path. I also discovered my true passion of coaching and developing other people to success. Of course, like any human, I made mistakes along the way, and used these experiences to learn.
