Description

The National Health Information Center (NHIC) is a health information referral service sponsored by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. NHIC puts health professionals and consumers who have health questions in touch with those organizations that are best able to provide answers. Using a database that contains descriptions of health-related organizations, NHIC staff refer people to the most appropriate resource. Spanish language information specialists are available. NHIC also produces and distributes three annual health information directories: Federal Health Information Centers and Clearinghouses, National Health Observances, and Toll-free Numbers for Health Information.
