Registering for the course:
dot When I try to register for the course I receive a message that "...Skillport has not finished initializing your desktop settings...please try again..." I have tried multiple times and still receive this message. What do I need to do to make this work?
If you are having difficulty logging in or accessing the course, please see our Learner Computer Requirements to make sure your computer and browser are set-up correctly.

dot When I try to create a User ID I receive an error message that "the User ID you selected is already in use" however I have not registered for the course yet. How can this be?
This message means that someone else is already using the User ID you selected. This can happen if you have a common last name. You will need to select another User ID (try adding numbers at the beginning or end to make the User ID more unique).

dot When I create a User ID, how come I do not have the option to create a password?
A password will be sent within 1-2 business days to the email address you provided during registration. If you do not receive your password, send a message to wicworks@nal.usda.gov.

Receiving continuing education credits:
dot How do I obtain the continuing education credits that are available from the American Dietetic Association?
The first four lessons (12 modules) are approved for 4 CEU hours for Registered Dietitians (RDs) and Dietetic Technicians Registered (DTRs). Once you complete the course with a 70% or higher on each of the 4 tests (1 for each lesson), you can view/print your certificate from the My Report section of the Skillport homepage (the page that comes up once you log on to the course). Look under Completed Courses and click on the third icon under the Controls section (it looks like a scroll) to access the certificate. The certificate will serve as your proof of completion that you can self-report to ADA. The certificate states that the course is approved for 4 hours.

The Feeding Infants: Nourishing Attitudes and Techniques Lesson (3 modules) has been approved for 1.5 CEU hours for RDs and DTRs. Once you complete these three modules and the test with a score of 70% or higher, select "Certificates" from the Shortcuts Menu of the Skillport homepage (the page that comes up once you log on to the course) for further instructions and to print your certificate. The certificate will serve as your proof of completion that you can self-report to ADA.

The Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment Lesson (3 modules) has been approved for 1 CEU hour for RDs and DTRs. Once you complete these three modules and the test with a score of 70% or higher, select "Certificates" from the Shortcuts Menu of the Skillport homepage (the page that comes up once you log on to the course) for further instructions and to print your certificate. The certificate will serve as your proof of completion that you can self-report to ADA.

dot How do I obtain the nursing credits that are available?
The first four lessons (12 modules) have been approved for 3.9 contact hours by the Maryland Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver for continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

In order to receive the credit, you must complete both the course and the course evaluation.

The Feeding Infants: Nourishing Attitudes and Techniques Lesson (3 modules) has been approved for 1.5 contact hours by the Maryland Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver for continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Once you complete these three modules and the test with a score of 70% or higher and complete the evaluation form, select "Certificates" from the Shortcuts Menu of the Skillport homepage (the page that comes up once you log on to the course) for further instructions and to print your certificate.

The Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment Lesson (3 modules) has been approved for 1 contact hour by the Maryland Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver for continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Once you complete these three modules and the test with a score of 70% or higher and complete the evaluation form, select "Certificates" from the Shortcuts Menu of the Skillport homepage (the page that comes up once you log on to the course) for further instructions and to print your certificate.

Please add your address to the bottom of the certificate and retain for your records. WIC Works staff will be reporting completions to the credentialing association. The option to "Evaluate the Course" is available from the "My Plan" section of the Skillport homepage.
