December, 2001 Water and Land Resources Division Strategic Plan Available The Water and Land Resource Division's strategic plan has been finalized and will help the division be more efficient and responsive in its work managing King County's water and land resources. This new strategic plan positions the division to respond to a dynamic regulatory environment, improve on-the-ground project and service delivery to citizens; and provide long-term protection for the public health and safety of the people of King County. The Strategic Plan sets in motion organizational changes that will guide the division as it works to become a performance-based organization, which is better-equipped to respond to change and the increasing complexities of natural resource management. The plan establishes priorities and core businesses for Water and Land to ensure, that together with the Wastewater Treatment, Solid Waste, and Parks and Recreation divisions, the Department of Natural Resources and Parks achieves its overall mission: To be a steward of the region's environment and strengthen sustainable communities by protecting our water, land and natural habitats, safely disposing of and reusing wastewater and solid waste, and providing natural areas, parks, and recreation programs.
