Fort Necessity National Battlefield celebrates George Washington's Birthday by sponsoring an art contest for fourth, fifth and sixth grade students. Entries are generally due by early February. Prizes are awarded for the top entries by grade and category. In addition, sample winning pictures are posted on this web site.

Over 100 re-enactors participated in the tactical demonstrations of the battle during the 250th anniversary of the battle.  

Did You Know?
The action at Fort Necessity was the first major event in the military career of George Washington. It marked the only time he ever surrendered his army to an enemy.
