BLS projects employment to increase by 22 million workers (to a total of 167.7 million) over the period 2000 to 2010. The largest numbers of workers will be employed in professional and related occupations and service. BLS estimates that these occupational groups will experience the greatest growth between 2000 and 2010, with employment increasing to 33.7 million for professional and related occupations and 31.2 million for service occupations.
