2008 Georgian National Science Scholars Program

Under the 2008 Georgian National Science Scholars Program (GNSS II), the U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF), the Georgia National Science Foundation (GNSF), and the Georgian Research and Development Foundation (GRDF) will sponsor, on a competitive basis, one year grants to young researchers for a) 2-3 month lab visits to a U.S. host and b) 9-10 months of research support and individual financial support to continue research on return to Georgia. The goals of the program are to support early career development of talented young Georgian scholars and strengthen U.S.–Georgian collaborations.

Depending on the number of meritorious proposals, CRDF, GNSF, and GRDF will support up to ten, 12-month awards for up to US $11,500 each, for a maximum total funding available of US$115,000.

In accordance with CRDF, GNSF, and GRDF principles of operation, all support under the proposed activity will be reserved for proposals of exceptional scientific merit as determined by expert peer-review and consistent with the terms described in this program announcement.

2008 Junior Scientists Research Collaboration Program

Deadline: DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JANUARY, 30, 2009

In order to promote and foster collaborative relationships between U.S. and Ukrainian laboratories, the U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF) and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MESU) will sponsor, on a competitive basis, research projects by junior scientists from the United States and Ukraine. Each grant will provide up to $15,000 or the equivalent in Ukrainian Hryvnya (approximately HRN 75,000) for a Ukrainian junior scientist to travel to the U.S., or a U.S. junior scientist to travel to Ukraine for up to three months to engage in collaborative research.

Through this program, participating junior scientists will identify and develop new contacts, promoting further collaboration between U.S. and Ukrainian researchers and strengthen the next generation of scientists and engineers in both countries.

CGP 2008 Multidisciplinary Climate Change Competition - Ukraine

Deadline: December 1, 2008, 23:59 Eastern Standard Time

The U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF) is currently accepting proposals for its 2008 Cooperative Grants Program (CGP 2008) Multidisciplinary Climate Change Competition. This competition is open only to applicants from Ukraine.

This program provides awards of $70,000 for up to two years of support to joint research teams of U.S. and Ukrainian scientists.

Research projects eligible for this competition should be investigating the causes of, effects from, or solutions to climate change. CRDF will accept applications from the following scientific disciplines: Geology, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Electronic/Material/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.

CGP-RFBR Multidisciplinary Climate Change Competition - Russia

Deadline: December 1, 2008, 23:59 Eastern Standard Time

The U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF) and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) are currently accepting proposals for the 2008 CGP-RFBR Multidisciplinary Climate Change Competition. This competition is open only to applicants from Russia.

This program provides awards of approximately $75,000 for up to two years of support to joint research teams of U.S. and Russian scientists.

Research projects eligible for this competition should be investigating the causes of, effects from, or solutions to climate change. CRDF will accept applications from the following scientific disciplines: Geology, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Engineering.
