The Foreign Press Center of Japan supports members of the foreign press who are working in Japan. It was established in 1976 and offers information on views from Japan, people in the news, list of Prime Ministers and Cabinet Members and other useful guides. The site is also available in Japanese.

The Institute of Social Science at the University of Tokyo includes an Asahi Shimbun Clippings Database. The site is also available in Japanese.

This is the online version of the daily English-language newspaper, The Japan Times.

Kyodo news is one of the largest Japanese news services providing wire reports to hundreds of news outlets both domestic and international. This website features a collection of searchable news briefs and market information updated every fifteen minutes.

This is a digital archive for more than 200,000 photographs including 120,000 photographs taken in the pre-World War II period. Photographs can be purchased through the site.

Nippon Hoso Kyokai is a major TV network in Japan. Its site includes headline stories of the day, schedules, 24 hour news, and more. The site is also available in Japanese and other languages.

Nikkei Net Interactive  (http://www.nni.nikkei.co.jp/)
Nikkei Net Interactive is online version of Nihon Keizai Shinbun, one of Japan's leading national newspapers. The home page includes headlines of the current day's Japanese and international news, but a password (available for a subscription fee) is needed to read the stories and to access most of the information on the site. The site is also available in Japanese.

On The Record, Media Directory of Japan Specialists  (http://www.us-japan.org/otr/otrnav.html)
A Database of Japan Specialists compiled by CULCON (The US-Japan Conference on Cultural and Educational Interchange), part of the Japan-US Friendship Commission. It was designed to provide the media with access to information about the US-Japan relationship through experts. You can browse the database by specialization (including art history, media, business, education, language, history, law, politics, religion, and science and technology) or by alphabetical listing, geographical location, affiliations, and interview languages.
