An excellent guide to Japanese Studies Resources with links to useful bibliographies for both Western and Japanese language books about Japan. The site also includes numerous links to library catalogs, dictionaries, journals and related websites about Japan.

Part of the electronic Learning Network, this website search for Japan, yields articles in almanacs, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and biographical works on Japan.

This annual yearbook has the most recent statistics on Japan. It includes 25 fields of statistics published by government and private organizations on such areas as land, population, economy, society, and culture. It also explains data sources and survey methods to obtain the statistics. Earlier hard copy editions, call number HA 1832 .D32 (Orien Japan), are available by request in the Asian Reading Room (LJ150).

This online version of the published study is one in a continuing series of books prepared by the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress under the Country Studies/Area Handbook Program sponsored by the Department of the Army. The Country Study describes and analyzes the political, economic, social, and national security systems and institutions of Japan. It also examines the interrelationships of those systems and the ways they are shaped by cultural factors. Each study is written by a multidisciplinary team of social scientists.
