Three members call for King County to get out of the business of operating animal shelters

The culture of King County’s animal services system is so far beyond repair that the County should get out of that line of business, according to Council Chair Julia Patterson and Vice Chairs Dow Constantine and Reagan Dunn. The three have announced their support for the idea of partnering with a community agency to provide shelter services. That organizational model is one of three contained in the final report of the King County Animal Services Interbranch Work Group, which presented their report to the full Council during its Committee of the Whole meeting Oct. 6. Read the report of the Interbranch Work Group and comments from the Community Stakeholder Group.
