The Archaeological Site forms--the main form, the isolate form, and the update form--are available in electronic format as part of a Microsoft Access database. It is provided in a WinZip version to accommodate computers that are slow at downloading large files. There are also Microsoft Word versions of these forms for those who do not have Access software. SHPO recommends using the Access version because it has drop-down menus and other user amenities that make data entry easier and more accurate. Download the file you prefer by selecting the link and following the directions in the window that appears on your screen. For additional help, please contact Dennis Griffin at (503) 986-0674 or dennis.griffin@state.or.us.
The Access database version of the site forms is an interim step toward the ultimate goal of having a web-based version that does not require users to have specific software. We hope to have this in place some time in 2005. The web-based version will also have expanded capabilities for importing data into SHPO´s master database of archaeological sites and the databases of other federal and state agencies (BLM, Forest Service, etc.).
