U.S. Military Assistance to Lebanon (Taken Question)

Question: Please provide the total dollar amount of U.S. military assistance for Lebanon beginning with today (May 15) until the end of the year.

Answer: The amount of U.S. military assistance appropriated for Lebanon in FY 2008 is as follows:

  • Foreign Military Financing (FMF):                                   $6,943,000
  • International Military Education and Training (IMET): $1,428,000
  • Section 1206 Funding (from DoD funds):                    $7,226,000

Additionally, some of the military assistance funding for Lebanon that was appropriated in FY 2007 remains uncommitted:

  • Foreign Military Financing (FMF)                                $177,141,000

                                                                           Total                   $192,738,000
