Research Project: INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SORGHUM FOR BIOFUELS Project Number: 0210-22310-003-27

Objective:
To organize and implement an international workshop to address enhancing energy feedstocks with a more definitive approach by focusing on one crop with significant energy potential: sorghum.

Approach:
Texas AgriLife Research will assist with planning the workshop through the program and planning committee (P&PC) organized by the Office of International Research Programs of the Agricultural Research Service; establish a registration mechanism and manage the funds received by the registrants according to our federal and state laws, and according to aagency by-laws and policies; establish an agreement with a hotel in Houston, Texas, as the venue of the workshop, to include meeting rooms and set up for a poster session, a block reservation of rooms for registrants and participants, associated beverages and snacks for coffee breaks, and meals to be held during the workshop meeting(s), and equipment needed for the workshop (microphones, projectors, etc.) and associated technical assistance to operate this equipment; assist with the operation/logistics of the on-site registration and information distribution to participants at the workshop; assist with organizing field visits for the participants for two days, and organize the transportation for these visits, and associated meals that would take place during the visits; assist with compiling and reproducing handouts for workshop participants, such as program, folders, abstracts, and other such documentation as identified by the P&PC; assist with producing the conference report or proceedings in cooperation with the OIRP-ARS and its designated reporter(s); assist with reproducing the report and providing copies to the participants, and available remaining copies to the OIRP-ARS; and support the travel and associated costs for speakers and specifically identified key participants to the workshop.
