The Oxford Location is comprised of the National Sedimentation Laboratory and the Natural Products Utilization Research Unit.

Laboratory experiments provide opportunities to show how sediment transport in rivers take place.

Bioengineering stabilization efforts in Little Topashaw Creek

A plant physiologist and research chemist look at various plant extracts to analyze phytotoxins. A microbiologist from the Natural Products Utilization Research Unit grows cultures of blue-green algae to screen natural compounds in a rapid bioassay to discover selective algicides.  Such algicides would be helpful in preventing musty off-flavor in farm-raised channel catfish. A biologist from the ARS National Sedimentation Laboratory takes a sediment core sample from the shallow margin of a stream.
