Facility Picture

The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, located in West Alabama, is one of eight facilities in VISN 7. The facility is situated on a beautiful campus of 123 acres with 25 major buildings. The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center provides primary care, long-term health care and mental health care services to eligible veterans in VISN 7. Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center provides access to secondary and tertiary care services.

Comprehensive outpatient services in Primary Care include Clinics in podiatry, neurology, dermatology, spinal cord injury and flexible sigmoidoscopy.

Affiliations

Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center has active affiliations with the University of Alabama School of Medicine at both Tuscaloosa and Birmingham campuses. Over 200 University residents interns and students are trained at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center each year. There are nursing student affiliations with the University of Alabama, University of Alabama Birmingham, University of South Alabama, Samford University, Shelton State Community College, Lawson State University, Mississippi University for Women, Wallace State Community College and Jacksonville State University. The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center also has affiliations with the University of Illinois College of Optometry, University of Alabama School of Optometry,  Southern College of Optometry, Samford University School of Pharmacy, Auburn University School of Pharmacy, Auburn University School of Speech, University of Montevallo School of Speech and Audiology, University of Alabama Birmingham School of Dentistry, University of Alabama School of Social Work and the University of Florida School of Social Work. The facility also has affiliations with numerous colleges and universities for the schools of Business Administration, Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Recreational Therapy and Office Administration.
