Fire and Aquatic Ecosystems
The primary
purpose of this web site is to ensure that land managers have access
to the most current science findings and tools relevant to management of aquatic systems in fire prone landscapes.
Description of Links
Fire and
Aquatic Ecosystems Publications
This link will take you
to a listing of new and recent publications on Fire and Aquatic Ecosystems from
the Boise Aquatic Sciences Laboratory and other sources.
Fire and Aquatic Ecosystems Workshop
This link will bring you to
the products and information developed from the Fire and Aquatic Ecosystems
Workshop held April 22-24, 2002 in Boise, ID. Links on the following page will
bring you to products including; papers, presentations, and abstracts from the
workshop speakers, as well as biographies of the authors that participated in
the workshop.
R1/R4 Adaptive Fire Management Projects
This link will bring you to
ongoing R1/R4 Adaptive Fire Management Projects that involve watershed, soils,
and riparian processes. Project information including description, contacts,
and available technology transfer products are provided.
Boise Lab Fire/Aquatic Projects
This link will bring you to the ongoing fire and aquatic projects at the Boise
Aquatic Sciences Lab.
Fire and Aquatic Bibliography
This link will bring you to the “fire and aquatic
ecosystems reference list”. The purpose of this bibliography is to aid managers
and scientists in locating relevant science pertaining to the interactions of
fire and riparian and aquatic processes, populations and habitats. In addition
to refereed journal articles, the list also contains many general technical
reports (GTRs), unpublished reports, and grey literature.
R1/R4 Management Questions
This link will bring you
to a list of questions that identifies the key aquatic questions that land
managers have associated with fire and related forest health activities (e.g.,
thinning and salvage) so that we can use them to 1) link existing available
science to specific questions, 2) show the linkage to the R1/R4 Adaptive Fire
Management Projects to alert managers to developing science and expertise, and
3) provide the scientists with a list to help them determine research needs and
priorities.
