Secretary Powell arrives on November 17 in Santiago, Chile for meetings of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation or APEC forum. State Department PhotoSecretary Powell departed Washington on November 17, 2004 for travel to Santiago, Chile for meetings of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. He attended the APEC Ministerial Meetings (Nov. 17-18) and held bilateral meetings with counterparts while in Santiago. At the APEC meetings the U.S. promoted trade liberalization and facilitation and support efforts to ensure security, enhance transparency, and fight corruption.

President Bush attended the 12th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Meeting in Santiago, Chile from November 20-21, 2004.
