Objective:
The objective of the cooperative research project is to facilitate the development of cold water marine aquaculture research by The University of Maine (UM) and the Agricultural Research Service (ARS).

Approach:
This Agreement identifies the general terms, relative to the ARS NCWMAC in Franklin, Maine and the UM CCAR, to guide ARS and UM throughout the duration of ARS research facilities construction activity and subsequent operations. The approach is to (a) promote the joint use of infrastructure for economy of scale savings, and (b) optimize operational efficiencies at NCWMAC and the University's aquaculture research facilities. Cost allocations will be assigned for the use of shared resources.
