Research Project: EVALUATION OF SELECTED RAINBOW TROUT LINES FED GRAIN-BASED DIETS UNDER FARM SCALE CONDITIONS

Location: Leetown, West Virginia

2006 Annual Report

4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a Specific Cooperative Agreement between ARS and University of Idaho. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent CRIS 1930-31000-007-00D Utilizing Genetics for Enhancing Cool and Cold Water Aquaculture Production.

Fish from 33 genetic groups were evaluated at the University of Idaho, Hagerman facility. Each genetic group was divided into 4 replicate tanks and fed either a control diet high in fishmeal content or a diet high in protein from soybean meal. Family and diet effects were large; however, the effects of family x diet were mostly small. The most important family x diet interaction effect was for feed efficiency.
