Technical Abstract: Technical abstract. Coffee is the most valuable agricultural commodity in the world and is in a crisis mode due to low prices, which are not sufficient to cover production costs in many producing countries. A largely ignored consequence of the coffee crisis is the reduced funding for coffee research. An internationally coordinated coffee research effort is proposed.
