Objective:
Identify rice germplasm and breeding lines that are resistant to important diseases found in the Southern U.S.

Approach:
Rice germplasm and mapping population will be evaluated for resistance to blast (caused by Pyricularia grisea), sheath blight (caused by Rhizoctonia solani), and kernel smut (caused by Neovossia horrida) diseases using established inoculation and cultural management methods to induce disease.
