Research Project: IMPROVING BREEDING DESIGNS USING SPATIAL STATISTIC AND COVARIATES

Location: Grain, Forage & Bioenergy Research

Project Number: 5440-21220-027-13
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 30, 2006
End Date: Sep 30, 2011

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research is to develop and apply advanced statistical methods to allow researchers to improve their precision in identifying superior germplasm.

Approach:
New spatial statistical methods will be developed to utilize covariate models when both the response variable and covariate are spatially correlated but do not necessarily have the same support. Methods will be validated using computer simulations, and lab or field experiments as appropriate.
