Research Project:
EVALUATION OF EXPERIMENTAL TRANSGENIC COTTON LINES, CONSTRUCTS, OR EVENTS DEVELOPED BY BAYER CROPSCIENCE
Location: Genetics and Precision Agriculture Research
Project Number: 6406-21000-012-27
Project Type:
Trust
Start Date: Oct 06, 2006
End Date: Jun 30, 2008
Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research agreement is to evaluate the effectiveness of experimental transgenic cotton lines developed by Bayer CropScience containing one or more transgenes for control of selected cotton insects.
Approach:
Selected cotton lines will be grown in field plots and artificially infested with cotton pest species larvae and also grown in plots free of these larvae. Laboratory assays will also be conducted with several species of larvae. Data will be collected to assess the effectiveness of the cotton lines for control of the primary target pests. The various cotton lines will also be evaluated for their agronomic and fiber properties.
