Research Project: UTILITY ADAPTED TREE RESEARCH AND EVALUATION OF OUTPLANTING

Objective:
To evaluate U.S. National Arboretum releases and selections for suitability for street and utility line plantings.

Approach:
Selected trees with potential value for street and utility line plantings will be planted on streets and under utility lines in various municipalities for on-going evaluation of resistance to biotic and environmental stresses associated with these applications. Trees will also be evaluated for growth rate, canopy development and architecture, and for aesthetic considerations.
