Project Number: 5320-21000-011-04
Project Type:
Specific Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Sep 30, 2003
End Date: Jul 31, 2008
Objective:
1. Develop a database of publications addressing the development of GMO's, environmental concerns, health concerns, food safety, legislation, potential benefits and aspects requiring attention.
2. Make contact with concerned parties within UH, agricultural companies, environmental organizations, consumer organizations etc. and survey their interests and concerns.

6. Provide an unbiased channel for the communication of information between researchers and concerned parties.
Approach:
The investigator will develop themes of seminars, conferences, and workshops that provide a public forum for providing unbiased information on the GMOs and approaches for assessing and managing their benefits and potential risks to agriculture, human health, and the environment. The themes of the activities will be discussed with the ADODR so that they are coordinated, as much as possible, with the research programs on the risk and managements of GMOs that are being conducted at the USDA Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center in Hawaii. Educational materials will be developed for dissemination to various interested private and public agencies, and the general public.Documents SCA with U of HI-Manoa.
