Location: Crop Genetics and Production Research

2006 Annual Report

4d.Progress report.
Research was conducted under a Reimbursable Agreement between the ARS and Southern Illinois University. Additional details of the research can be found in the report of the inhouse project 6402-21220-007-00D, Genetic and Cultural Methods to Reduce Soybean Yield Losses to Diseases and Environmental Stress. The research has focused on developing screening protocols for Phomopsis longicolla and Macrophomina phaseolina (charcoal rpt) as well as screening germplasm for Frog Eye Leaf Spot disease. 2006 represents the third year of screening 200 plus entries of round up soybean varieties from Maturity Groups 3-5 for charcoal rot and frog eye resistance and over 200 breeding lines in Southern Uniform Tests.
