2006 Annual Report
4a.List the single most significant research accomplishment during FY 2006.
One hundred seven inventories from the fifteen accessions of rye germplasm from the National Small Grains Collection, National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation or the Polish Botanical Garden were regenerated and general characteristics of each inventory were evaluated in controlled common garden enclosures in Poland.
4b.List other significant research accomplishment(s), if any.
Sampling schemes for genetic analyses were developed. Leaf samples from individual plants will be blotted onto filter paper and shipped to the US for genotyping. We have identified fifteen SSR markers and are in the process of adding an additional twenty. Provenance data from the various inventories were researched in GRIN to identify the place of harvest, date of harvest, and parental line used.
4c.List significant activities that support special target populations.
None.
4d.Progress report.
