Research Project: RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT FOR COMPARATIVE CEREAL GENOMICS

Location: Plant, Soil and Nutrition Research

2004 Annual Report

4.What were the most significant accomplishments this past year?
D. Progress Report:

This report serves to document research conducted under a Specific Cooperative Agreement between ARS and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). Additional details of this research can be found in the report of the parent project 1907-21000-014-00D "Comparative Plant Genomics." This project focused on development of resources for comparative genomics for the purpose of enhancing cereal genotypes by leveraging the rice sequence genome. Specific resource development includes ongoing construction of databases, the construction of controlled vocabularies for plant anatomy and developmental stages, and the development of generic web-based visualization tools. Database development includes the support of the following websites, www.gramene.org, www.plantontology.org and www.panzea.org. In July of 2004 a preliminary plant anatomy will be release in collaboration with the Plant Ontology Consortium. GBrowse and CMap software have been updated and are available from the GMOD website, www.gmod.org.
