Research Project: PLANT EXPLORATION AND EXCHANGE IN THE REPUBLIC OF GEORGIA

Location: National Germplasm Resources

2006 Annual Report

4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a specific cooperative Agreement between ARS and the Institute of Botany, Georgian Academy of Sciences. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent project 1275-21000-170-00D: PLANT EXPLORATION TO ACQUIRE CROP GENETIC RESOURCES. The Material Transfer Agreement that was signed by ARS and the Institute of Botany giving ARS prior informed consent to collect native crop germplasm in the Republic of Georgia was expanded to include FY 2006 target crops. Seeds of wild fruits and woody and herbaceous ornamentals have been collected in the Republic of Georgia. The U.S. share of the collected germplasm has been provided to the appropriate ARS managed National Plant Germplasm System repository, where they will be made available to U.S. and foreign researchers.
