4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document activities conducted under a specific cooperative agreement between ARS and the University of the Azores, Department of Economics, under the Azores Cooperative Initiatives Program (ACIP), as mandated in the 1995 U.S.-Portugal Agreement on Cooperation and Defense and further defined in the Final Minute (95 ACD-FM) to that agreement and funded by Department of Defense. The project seeks to develop an economic model as an instrument for policy analysis. During FY-2005, the project team took part in specialized seminars in Portugal and the United States on economic modeling. A literature review was largely completed a model specifications were developed. Other accomplishments included publishing a new input-output matrix for the Azores in mid 2004. Another matrix will be published in 2005. Also, during the reporting period, the Luso-American Foundation and Regional Directorate of Education and Science have approved additional financial support to augment this work.
